Why not to use laminate?
Hardness- The floor may feel hard to the feet and create a hollown sound in the house when walked upon. As a protective step, a foam layer is advised on the substrate before the laying of the laminate planks. This helps in reducing sound transmission and works as an effective sound-absorbent.
Repairing- The biggest con of having a laminated floor is that in case of a dent or any other damage, it cannot be sanded or repaired as can be done with natural wood. With constant use and cleaning, the topmost layer may slowly erode away.
However, it can't be used for flooring outdoors and in places more prone to getting wet. Water leakage into the floor substrate can lead to the growth of fungi or warping of the floor planks.
